The Interior Health Authority is talking about privatizing hospital laundry in 11 communities putting 175 family-supporting jobs at risk.
If the plan goes through, hospital laundry will be trucked to the Lower Mainland -- or even Alberta. Those jobs will be lost to our communities.
It's not about efficiency -- even the health authority admits that. Laundry staff provide a high quality service that's critical to health care delivery.
But the provincial government won't commit to a modest investment to upgrade hospital laundry equipment over the next decade.
Aren't our communities worth the investment?
